2012년 4월 산행일지

 

일자 : 2012년 4월 1일 (일요일)  7 시 - 3시반

위치 : Niagara Whirlpool / Niagara Glen Nature Reserve지역

참가자 : 총 16명 ( 이정훈, 김수진, 김경태, 나종해씨 부부, 안정림 씨 부부, 김근래+2 Guests,

                          강모니카, 하선옥, 김말숙, 김제니카보나, 이명옥 (Cambridge거주) , 김종현)

기상 : 흐린후 많은비, 낮 최고기온 섭씨 5도

출발 장소: 4722 Yonge St/Sheppard Ave. West, Shell Gas Station.

일정 (10 – 12 km 예정상 거리)

- 오전 7시 30분 North York 출발

  - 도중 Grimsby의 Casablanca Blvd (QEW Exit 74). 팀호튼에서 커피 브레이크 

  - 오전 9시 30분경 Niagara Glen Nature Reserve 주차장 도착

  - 오전 9시 45분경Niagara River 강가를따라 계곡쪽 트레일 출발

  - 궃은 날씨 에다 우천으로 인해 길이 미끄러웠고, Whirlpool 쪽으로의 일부 Blue 와 White 트레일(약 2.6Km) 후 오전  11시경 주차장으로 돌아옴

  - 주차장 옆 피크닉지역의 Shelter에서 점심식사

  - 오전 11시 50분경 Niagara Glen Nature Reserve 주차장 출발 Bruce Trail 의 시작점 (Zero Point) 에서 단체 기념촬영

- 도중에 Queenston Heights Park에 들러 General Brock's Monument 와 Laura Ingersoll Secord기념탑을 둘러보고

  근처 야외공연장에서 산행에 처음 참가한 모니카님의 "베사 메 무쵸"열창 감상.  또한 김근래님과 함께오신  두분의 손님이 최신 유행곡 발표.

  - 토론토로 돌아오는 도중 Jordan Rd/N. Service Rd의 팀 호튼에서 커피 브레이크 및 Antique Shop 구경과 shopping

- 오후 3시 30분경 North York 도착

 

 

Major-General Isaac Brock, Commander-in-Chief of British forces in Upper Canada was stationed at Fort George in Newark (now Niagara-on-the-Lake).  He had just returned from a victory over American forces at Detroit.  Now he observed the build-up of troops on the American side of the Niagara River from Buffalo to Youngstown.

Who was Laura Secord?
Laura Ingersoll Secord is a Canadian heroine of the War of 1812, who walked thirty-two kilometers to warn of an impending American attack on the British outpost at Beaver Dam in Upper Canada (Ontario). Laura Secord’s long dangerous walk became a favorite story among Canadians about the War of 1812.
